Mahavatar: Vicky Kaushal Reveals Striking First Look as ‘Chiranjeevi’

Mumbai: Film producer Dinesh Vijan and director Amar Kaushik are poised to raise the stakes with their upcoming epic, Mahavatar, which will star Vicky Kaushal as the legendary warrior sage, Chiranjeevi Parashurama.

Inspired by Indian mythology, the film is scheduled for release in cinemas on Christmas 2026.

After the massive success of their previous collaboration, Stree 2, Vijan and Kaushik have reunited for this much-awaited project that explores the rich tapestry of ancient Indian mythology.

Mahavatar will bring the story of Chiranjeevi Parashurama, one of the seven immortal figures in Hindu mythology, to the big screen, with Vicky Kaushal taking on what is expected to be a career-defining role.

The announcement of Mahavatar follows Vicky Kaushal’s recent successes, including Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, and his upcoming film Chhaava, which chronicles the life of Maratha King Sambhaji Maharaj.

The first look for Mahavatar was unveiled on November 13, featuring a striking poster that presents Vicky Kaushal in character as the legendary warrior sage.

In his post, Kaushal shared, “Dinesh Vijan brings to life the story of the eternal warrior of dharma! Vicky Kaushal stars as Chiranjeevi Parashurama in #Mahavatar, directed by Amar Kaushik. Coming to cinemas – Christmas 2026!”

The film centers on the figure of Parashurama, one of the seven Chiranjeevis, or immortal beings, in Hindu mythology. Revered for his wisdom, strength, and unwavering commitment to justice, Parashurama is both a sage and a fierce protector of dharma (righteousness).

In ancient texts like the Mahabharata and Ramayana, Parashurama is depicted as an avatar of Lord Vishnu, tasked with eliminating corrupt rulers and restoring balance to the world.

Produced by Maddock Films, the screenplay for Mahavatar is written by Niren Bhatt. The film is slated for release in cinemas on Christmas 2026.
