Pan-India star Allu Arjun was arrested by the Chikkadapalli police today (Friday) in connection with the tragic stampede incident that occurred during a screening of his film Pushpa-2. The stampede, which resulted in a woman’s death, has caused a major stir across the Telugu states. Three individuals have already been arrested in relation to the incident, including the owner and manager of Sandhya Theater, as well as the security manager who failed to implement proper safety measures. The arrested individuals have been remanded by the Chikkadapalli police, who have shared sensational details about the incident with the media.
“We have placed them on judicial remand,” said Chikkadapalli ACP Ramesh Kumar.
Chikkadapalli ACP L. Ramesh Kumar confirmed that three individuals have been arrested in connection with the Pushpa-2 stampede. He stated that Sandeep, one of the seven owners of Sandhya Theater, along with senior manager Nagaraju and manager Vijay Chander, who oversees the upper and lower balconies, have been presented in court and sent to judicial remand. A case has been filed against them under sections 105, 118(1)r/w 3(5) of the BNS Act. The ACP further mentioned that Babu’s condition is currently stable and clarified that the incident occurred due to a failure to provide timely information. ACP Ramesh Kumar added that he would consult with the legal team and issue notices to Allu Arjun for further investigation.
“No information was given,” said DCP Akshansh Yadav.
Meanwhile, the police have revealed shocking details about the incident at Sandhya Theater. Madhya Mandal DCP Akshansh Yadav stated that the premiere of Pushpa 2 was held at Sandhya Theater at 9:40 PM the previous night, attracting a large crowd. He explained that they were not informed that key actors from the film would be attending the screening alongside the audience. He added that the theater management did not provide this information, nor did they take any precautions ahead of time. In a surprising revelation, he stated that no private security was arranged to manage the crowd, and no special arrangements were made for entry and exit.
A confrontation among the audience occurred.
The police mentioned that no special route had been arranged for the actors either. Allu Arjun arrived at Sandhya Theater at 9:30 PM with his personal security team. As Allu Arjun entered the theater, his security staff began pushing the crowd, which was already packed both inside and outside the theater. At the same time, Allu Arjun, accompanied by some theater staff, entered, leading to a scuffle among the audience.
Revathi’s Death:
At the same time, Revathi, a resident of Dilsukhnagar, was in the crowd with her son. They struggled to breathe due to the overwhelming number of spectators. Police officers on duty performed CPR on 13-year-old Sri Tej and quickly transported him to Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. However, doctors at the hospital confirmed that Revathi had already passed away. They recommended transferring Sri Tej to another hospital for further care. A case has been filed, and an investigation has been launched based on a complaint from the victim’s family. The Chikkadapalli police have registered a case under various sections and have warned of strict action against those responsible for the incident.
Complaint to NHRC:
Meanwhile, lawyer Rama Rao Immineni has filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) regarding the movie Pushpa-2. He stated in his complaint that a woman lost her life in a stampede at Sandhya Theater during the film’s release and requested that action be taken. He expressed frustration with the police for failing to properly anticipate the crowd size in advance. The complaint also noted that the pre-release event was organized without prior permission. The petitioner alleged that the woman’s death was caused by the excessive use of force by the Chikkadapalli police and the lack of necessary safety precautions. He called for an inquiry into the incident and appropriate action to be taken. The NHRC has accepted the petition for hearing and will investigate the matter.
