BTS’ Jungkook’s chart-topping solo debut album GOLDEN keeps breaking records even a year after its release. According to the latest updates, it has set a new milestone as the best-selling album of all time by a Korean soloist, with over 2.9 million copies sold. This achievement has allowed the K-pop star to surpass a long-standing record previously held by Kim Gun Mo.
According to a recent update, Jungkook’s GOLDEN has now become the best-selling album by a Korean soloist, surpassing the 29-year-long record previously held by Kim Gun Mo. His 1995 album Wrongful Meeting (also known as Wrongful Encounter) had sold 2.86 million copies, a milestone that stood unchallenged for nearly three decades. However, Jungkook achieved this feat in just one year after the release of GOLDEN in November 2023, making him a true history-maker.

Released on November 3, 2023, GOLDEN marked Jungkook’s debut studio album. The 11-track record includes some of the most iconic global collaborations in K-pop history. Its pre-release single “Seven” (featuring Latto) was dropped on July 14, 2023, and quickly became a viral sensation, paving the way for the album’s success.
GOLDEN features the title tracks “Standing Next to You,” “3D” (featuring Jack Harlow), “Closer to You” (featuring Major Lazer), “Yes or No,” “Please Don’t Change” (featuring DJ Snake), “Hate You,” “Somebody,” “Too Sad to Dance,” and “Shot Glass of Tears.”
All the tracks from GOLDEN became major hits, topping prestigious global music charts. Notably, the title track received widespread acclaim, further solidifying Jungkook’s standing in the international music scene.

Currently, Jungkook is fulfilling his mandatory military service, having enlisted in December alongside his bandmate Jimin as part of the buddy system. He is expected to return in June 2025. Since the release of GOLDEN, his only official solo release has been Never Let Go, which he dropped for BTS FESTA 2024. With his return on the horizon, excitement continues to build for his future projects.
